On Wednesday, March 29th,
Francesca Romana Memoli, Director and Founder of
Accademia Italiana in Salerno presented a seminar on the treasures of the
Campania region in Southern Italy at the University of Illinois Chicago.
Dr. Memoli led
discussions about the history and culture of the charming southern region. The
presentation featured captivating videos and photographs of the beautiful
sites of Campania: Pompeii, Positano, Salerno, Amalfi, Naples, and Paestum, focusing on Salerno city.
Her presentation highlighted the rich history of Salerno, historic monuments in
the region, and a typical Italian cuisine. Through language classes and
cultural excursions, she explained how studying at Accademia Italiana and
living in Salerno would be an ideal place for Study Abroad Programs while living an authentic Italian life.
The
presentation ended with a ‘‘how much do you know about Campania?’’ and a
100% scholarship for a two-week Italian course in Salerno was given awarded to
the winner, Cristina UIC student of prof. Chiara Fabbian.
Accademia
Italiana and Dr. Memoli would like to thank the students of the University of
Illinois Chicago who attended the presentation, as well as all the Italian Studies Department at UIC for hosting the event. A special thank goes to the Head of Italian
Department prof. Chiara Fabbian, who promoted this seminar in cooperation with Italian instructor prof. Maria Iusco.
